Our Story
25 years of passion, distilled into one extraordinary space.
25 years of Costcutter. Then everything changed.
For a quarter of a century, the Chaudry family ran a traditional Costcutter convenience store in Nuneaton. They knew their customers intimately, their community deeply — but they knew that retail was changing, and that the format they'd built their business on was being left behind.
Rather than adapt incrementally, they made a bold decision: to study the very best food retail destinations in the world, then build something entirely new from the ground up — something that would make Nuneaton genuinely proud.
From corner shop
to national benchmark.
The Costcutter years begin
The Chaudry family opens a traditional Costcutter convenience store in Nuneaton, building deep roots in the local community over 25 years of service.
A year of global research
The family embarks on a year-long study tour, visiting Ireland, Germany, Greece, and Canada to understand the future of premium food retail. A £3 million investment is committed to building something entirely new.
triple 'a' Foodhall opens
A 4,000 sq ft food hall opens on Coleshill Road, Nuneaton — featuring six handcrafted food counters, an 18-variety gelato bar, a German-imported bakery unit, and a carefully curated customer journey that Nuneaton had never seen before.
National recognition pours in
Five national industry awards across The Convenience Awards, Asian Trader Awards, and Better Retailing Awards. The Grocer, Convenience Store magazine, and the Coventry Telegraph all feature the store as a UK benchmark.
Expansion — with intention, not haste
Ashan Chaudry has announced plans to bring the triple 'a' concept to a carefully selected number of locations across the UK — ensuring the quality, community focus, and character that defines the brand are never compromised.
Built by family. For the community.
triple 'a' Foodhall is a family business through and through. Led by Ashan Chaudry, the team's philosophy has always been simple: treat every customer as you'd treat a guest in your own home.
That ethos — warmth, quality, and genuine care — is felt in every element of the store. From the carefully curated lighting that creates a deliberate customer journey, to the open kitchen counters that invite you to watch your food being made, every detail has been considered with the community in mind.
"We didn't want to just open a shop. We wanted to build a destination — a place Nuneaton could be genuinely proud of." — Ashan Chaudry
